ChatAbok: Parent Code of Conduct

Effective Date: 1 April 2026 | Version: 1.0

1. The Partnership Principle

At ChatAbok, parents and guardians are not passive bystanders—you are active partners in maintaining a secure digital ecosystem. This Code of Conduct outlines the responsibilities and expectations for every adult who registers on our platform.

Core Philosophy: Our technology is designed to support parental oversight, not replace it. Your engagement is the final and most important layer of our safety protocol.

2. Registration & Eligibility

By completing the Parent Registration process, you legally affirm the following:

  • Legal Authority: You are the biological parent, legal guardian, or have explicit legal authority to act on behalf of the child(ren) enrolled.

  • Age Requirement: You are 18 years of age or older.

  • Integrity of Data: All information provided (names, contact details, and child birthdates) is accurate and current.

  • Policy Agreement: You have read and accepted all five of ChatAbok’s platform policies. This constitutes a legally binding agreement.

3. Mandatory Parental Obligations

3.1 Security Hygiene

  • Credential Protection: You are responsible for the security of your parent account. You must never share your login details with your child or any third party.

  • Breach Reporting: If you suspect unauthorized access, notify support@chatabok.com immediately.

3.2 Proactive Supervision

  • Dashboard Management: You commit to regularly reviewing your Parent Dashboard for safety alerts, activity reports, and moderation notices.

  • Alert Follow-up: If our AI triggers a safety alert, you are expected to engage with your child promptly to discuss the context of the communication.

3.3 Safety Mentorship

Before your child begins their first session, you commit to discussing:

  1. Digital Boundaries: What information (photos, locations, school names) must never be shared.

  2. Red Flags: How to identify uncomfortable or suspicious behavior from others.

  3. Open Door Policy: Encouraging your child to come to you immediately if they feel confused or scared by an interaction.

4. Prohibited Conduct (Zero Tolerance)

The following actions will result in immediate account suspension or termination:

Violation TypeDescription
Age FalsificationMisrepresenting a child’s age to place them in an older/younger chat tier.
Unauthorized AccessAttempting to access another user’s account or the child’s dashboard without rights.

5. Dual-Parent & Account Management

5.1 Linked Accounts

Where two guardians share responsibility, both may register linked accounts with equal authority. Both will receive identical safety alerts and have full access to activity logs.

5.2 Dispute Resolution

ChatAbok does not mediate domestic or custodial disputes. If parents disagree on account settings or permissions, the dispute must be resolved externally.

5.3 Account Termination

You may request the closure of your account and your child’s data at any time via support@chatabok.com. Requests are processed within 5 business days, with full data deletion occurring within 30 days in compliance with POPIA.

6. Enforcement & Consequences

Breaches of this Code of Conduct are assessed based on severity and may lead to:

  1. Formal Warning: A written notice regarding minor policy slips.

  2. Suspension: Temporary loss of platform access for both Parent and Child.

  3. Permanent Ban: Immediate termination of all associated accounts.

  4. Legal Referral: Reporting to the SAPS or relevant authorities where criminal intent or negligence is suspected.

7. Emergency Contact & Reporting

Do not wait for an email response in an emergency.
